Quilters: Mrs. Mihalov and Mrs. Hertel

Quilt Tops For Sale

Mom began teaching me how to quilt in 2008 when I would visit her during the summer breaks from teaching. Now that I am retired from teaching, I can visit Mom and Dad whenever I want.

Mom creates most of the quilt tops and I complete the process by getting them quilted and bound. We love it!

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Mrs. Hertel

Jo Ellen Hertel

  • I created Quilt Tops For Sale during February 2020 after I retired from twenty years of teaching middle school. I taught Science, Social Studies, and Computers.
  • I was in the military, just like Mom and Dad, as an officer in the US Army.
  • I have been quilting with Mom since 2008.
  • Mom is left-handed and I am right-handed. Interesting!

  • Mom taught herself how to quilt during the 1980s after all her daughters had finally left the house.
  • Mom served in the US Army after graduating from high school.
  • Mom has made over 450 quilts and items for her family, friends, and community. Her quilts are all over the world.

My Mom's mother created this Wedding Ring quilt back in the 1940's. Mom gave me permission to create framed blocks for her daughters and grandchildren telling the story of

Beulah Dempsey Wallace.
